Writing, Designing, and the Arts
We finally got to experience our first “long Saturday”, where shops down the haupstrasse stay open a few hours later. It was great to get out again; I have been so exhausted the past few weeks that anything that required leaving the house was too much. 😛 Herr took me to a small Italian restaurant called Alfredos off the main street, and we enjoyed the at home feel of the atmosphere. The ovens are right behind the counter and heats the entire room, and the food is quite delicious.
Then Sunday Herr had to attend a rehearsal for The Mystery of Irma Vep, in which he is the sound technician. It is opening this coming weekend, so next Saturday I’m planning to go see it. We’re talking about getting back into the arts in general. With Mannheim, Frankfurt, and Stuttgart a short train ride away, we have a lot of options for operas, ballets, concerts, and even English plays and musicals. And now that work has starting to settle, we may start traveling again, woohoo! 😀
While Herr was at rehearsal, I met with five others to discuss writing ideas for the upcoming NaNoWriMo (November is National Novel Writing Month). Everyone thought one of my new ideas had a lot of potential, so I’ll be tabling Thaw (from last year) to give this new one a go. So for the next two weeks I’ll be researching to jump right into writing in November. 🙂 I’m pretty excited!
And for designing, I have determined that my current Web work has been lacking in quality. I’ll be doing a more thorough design of the new Army Europe Library Web catalog, then I’ll be revisiting the entire Web site framework. I am looking forward to doing work that I am more comfortable with again since the entire implementation project took a lot out of me. Writing and doing creative projects will help me recover. 😉 Also talking about getting more involved in music again, which would be great! Dust off the cello or warm up the vocal chords, or both. Rock Band (the video game!) has really helped improve my confidence. Gaming isn’t all bad.
